FAQ #2: Do I need to purchase my home before going through my state's licensing process or after I have already been approved?

When you will need to purchase your home solely depends on which state you want to get licensed in. For example, in Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida your home must be either purchased or leased before submitting your license application for their state. However, there are other states outside of these that may not require you to purchase the home before you submit your application.  For states that you must purchase, the application is built on the address of the home.

FAQ #3: What kind of home should I lease or purchase?

You would ideally need to lease or purchase a one level home with no stairs or steps, tied to a public water and sewage system, and with a fenced in backyard.  Wheelchair ramps and ADA requirements will depend on your state's rules and the mobility of residents in the home.

FAQ #4: How long does the licensing process usually take?

The licensing process can take around 4 to 12 months depending on your state.

FAQ #5: How long does it usually take for my personalized policy and procedure manual to be approved by my state?

Turnaround time for your policy and procedure manual review and approval by the state surveyor can be around 30 to 120 days depending on your state.

FAQ #6: What should I do if my policy and procedure manual has revisions?

You will receive a revision letter from your state's licensing department. Please forward that revision letter to us so we can make the revisions for you free of charge per your agreement. All revisions are usually completed within 14 to 21 days.
